Evidence:

There are various causes of SSI's but the most common source is the patient's own skin flora.7 It is a constant battle to reduce skin recolonisation as skin flora keeps growing.5 The high probability of the entrance of bacteria should be a constant challenge to reduce such contamination.10

Recommendation:

If an incise drape is required, use an iodophor impregnated drape unless the patient has an iodine allergy.6
