3M™ Sun Control Film and Insulating Film Amber 35 Low E successfully installed at school

Back to

Bracknell-based Holly Spring Junior School had the 3M Sun Control Film Amber 35 Low E fitted by 3M approved dealer GP systems, who are also based near Bracknell.

Managing Director of GP Systems, Steve Gargett, carried out the installation at the school. “The 3M Safety Film performs very well in reducing solar gain by 70% and glare reduction by 66%. Maintaining natural light levels during the winter months is desirable and this film allows twice as much natural light in comparison to products with the same solar control performance. It is a sustainable product as it helps reduce energy consumption and it has a minimal carbon footprint. The reduction of any heat gain will allow the pupils to work faster and will have a tangible impact on their ability to concentrate.”

Independent field intervention studies have shown that providing some means of avoiding elevated temperatures would improve educational attainment.

Jenny Sheppard, School Bursar, of Holly Spring Junior School commented, “Our two upstairs classrooms are particularly hot when the sun is shining, and air conditioning was expensive and non-ecologically sound in comparison. The film is neutral in colour, highly transparent, and is in-keeping with the surroundings of the school. We are positive that the film will make the environment in the classrooms more comfortable for both pupils and staff.”
