RelyX™ Unicem 2 Automix Self-Adhesive Resin Cement. News from the inventor of self-adhesive resin cements

09 June 2010

In September 2010, 3M™ ESPE™ will launch RelyX™ Unicem 2 Automix Self-Adhesive Resin Cement. Coming in a new delivery system, users of the world’s most clinically proven cement can benefit from even simpler application: the product will be available in an automix syringe with various application tips.

The syringe delivery is based on the same chemistry as RelyX™ Unicem Self-Adhesive Universal Resin Cement, the most clinically proven self-adhesive cement worldwide. Being suited for the permanent cementation of all-ceramic, composite or metal inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges as well as posts and screws, it has been applied more than 50 million times and was subject to numerous clinical and laboratory studies.

This year it received the “2010 Top Long-term Performer” Award by THE DENTAL ADVISOR, which is only one of many awards the cement has won. RelyX™ Unicem 2 Automix offers high colour stability, extraordinary bond strength and great moisture tolerance. It also convinces with low post-operative sensitivity and high long-term stability. In addition, excess cement can be removed quickly and easily. “Due to the overwhelming results of several application tests we have run before the introduction we are all very excited for the launch of RelyX™ Unicem 2 Automix”, says Carina Koppers, European Marketing Manager at 3M™ ESPE™.

The new automix delivery system offers even more convenience than the already available Clicker™ Dispenser as well as the Aplicap™ and Maxicap™ Capsules. The syringe extrudes the ready-mixed cement through mixing tips which are available in different sizes: mixing tips regular for standard applications, endo tips ensuring a safe and void-free procedure when working in the root canal and special intra-oral tips for the cementation of inlays and onlays. And of course, the need for any pre-treatment of the tooth, such as etching, priming and bonding, is eliminated.

The combination of proven technology with innovative features makes RelyX™ Unicem 2 Automix cement a promising new product with the potential to further improve and simplify procedures in the dental practice.
