Local Anaesthetics Expert Conference

01 May 2011

In April, more than 100 scientists and dental practitioners from around the world met in Munich for an international local anaesthetics expert conference held by 3M ESPE. In diverse lectures, globally recognised speakers, including Dr. John Meecham from University of Newcastle, discussed a range of cutting edge topics on local anaesthesia.

The first day began with a lecture on hypersensitivities, which was followed by an exclusive tour through 3M ESPE’s state-of-the-art local anaesthetics filling line. On the second day, speakers reviewed the history and new developments in local anaesthesia, differences between lidocaine and articaine, the likelihood of sensory disturbances when using articaine, the role of the vasoconstrictor and finally, anaesthesia failure and special injection techniques.

The conference was rounded off by a panel discussion and debate as to whether articaine has already become the golden standard in dental local anaesthesia. All agreed that the goal should be a pain-free injection with effective anaesthetisation of the patient. To request a brochure on 3M ESPE Local Anaesthetics please call 0845 602 5094.
