Those polled also showed support for coffee shops to provide further technology to help them work remotely. In particular, working customers showed positive demand for access to printers and scanners, as well as the ability to use electricity points to recharge their phones, tablets and laptops. Mark Ash, general manager print at Samsung UK, said: “Through this research we wanted to get to the bottom of the technology issues of mobile working.
The trend of working remotely in coffee shops has been steadily increasing for a while now, but our research found the availability of Wi-Fi is no longer enough to satisfy customers.” He added: “Despite it being important, customers want a more complete working experience.” A total of 101 coffee shops were involved in the research and eight per cent confirmed they already offer dedicated areas for professionals so they can avoid other potential distractions from other customers. Interestingly, 42 per cent of workers wished their local establishment would choice to offer a special business-only space so they could work in peace.
