Examination conditions for schools (and sixth form colleges) in England and Wales are regulated by the JCQ. To ensure e-assessment candidate privacy, JCQ guidelines (ref: ICE 2013 / 2014, Appendix 1, Section 6.5) require that each work station must be:
Isolated by a minimum space of 1.25 metres measured from the nearest outer edge of one screen to the next unless…
the monitors are positioned back-to-back, or
separated by dividers, or
protected by privacy screens (filters)
Universities & Colleges
Universities and FE Colleges are rapidly adopting online facilities to streamline student assessment and examinations as a result of this Universities must ensure that candidates’ privacy is maintained during e-assessments and that cheating is deterred. For this reason more and more Colleges and Universities are beginning to make use of Privacy Filters for this purpose.
