New role for Suzanne Shea

In line with the formation of the Safety & Graphics Business Group and the subsequent merging of the Traffic Safety Systems Division and the Security Systems Division, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Suzanne Shea to the position of UK Technical Manager for the new Traffic Safety and Security operating division (TSSD), extending her current leadership of the Secure Document Readers development group to other areas of new TSSD, namely Library Systems, and Highway Safety.  She will also lead the technical activities of the Commercial Graphics operating division in the UK.

In this role, Suzanne will be responsible for driving growth programmes, supporting the customer base, and connecting her teams to the wider 3M technologies and laboratories.  In this capacity, she will continue to provide technical leadership for the Readers product development team split between UK and Ottawa and will now also direct the technical service efforts of the Library, Highway Safety, and Commercial Graphics groups.

Immediate priorities will be the successful move of the Newbury laboratory to 3M Centre and building the TSS/CG technical service capabilities and critical mass.

Suzanne graduated from the University of Leeds in 1999 with a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry.  She joined 3M in 1999 as an Analyst in Corporate Analytical Services.  Since then she has taken on roles of increasing responsibility becoming, in 2004, Technical Manager for the Toxicology, European Industrial Hygiene Laboratory and Corporate Analytical Services groups.

In 2006 Suzanne took up the role of Technical Manager, Display & Graphics Business, 3M UK & Ireland and, in 2008, she was appointed Technical Manager for the Newbury-based 3M Rochford Thompson laboratory.

With her varied background in corporate technical, product development and technical service Suzanne has an excellent breadth of experience for her new role.

In this role Suzanne will be based at 3M Centre, Bracknell, and will continue to report to the undersigned.
