It is essential that the skin surrounding a stoma site be protected from the potentially irritating and excoriating effects of body fluids and adhesives.
Applying 3M™ Cavilon™ No Sting Barrier Film to a peri-stomal site will provide long-lasting protection against enzymes and other harmful elements often present in intestinal contents or urinary/faecal effluent1. It will also protect the skin against adhesive trauma2.
Cavilon no sting barrier film is available in a handy 1ml wipe presentation. Each discreet wipe is easy to use and the alcohol-free formula offers gentle yet effective protection for delicate peri-stomal skin. Cavilon no sting barrier film can be used at every appliance change to protect against adhesive related skin injury and to prevent and treat sore skin.

Millions 'suffer in silence' with incontinence
A recent BBC article tells how experts have suggested people suffer in silence because they are too embarrassed to talk about incontinence issues.
"More than 14 million adults in the UK have problems controlling their bladder and 6.5 million have bowel issues, while around 900,000 children and young people have difficulties."

Incontinence Associated Dermatitis
Due to an aging population, there are increasing instances of IAD1. Those who have IAD are 10 times more likely to develop a pressure ulcer2.
Studies have indicated that the use of wipes helps to prevent IAD3, reduce time involved in washing patients4, improve patient care5 and decrease overall cost associated with pressure ulcers6. 3M want to help stop IAD, and have organised a series of roadshows to help educate Health Care Professionals and improve patient care.
