3M Automotive has many years expertise in delivering solutions for a variety of attachment applications, where two materials or parts are joined together with double-sided tape.

We offer three tape solutions, each backed by application and lamination equipment support to ensure a reliable attachment process:

1.  Lightweight or small parts attachment
Tapes with a thickness of 0.05mm – 0.25mm may be used for smaller badges, electronic parts or other interior applications, where high performance holding strength and low thicknesses are needed.

2.  High performance exterior parts or weatherstrip attachment
Acrylic foam tapes with a thickness of 0.4mm – 3.2mm absorb stress and vibration and have superior bonding strength even to surfaces such as painted metal, PP, rubber, EPDM and PA.

3.  Mechanical attachment of interior parts
Reclosable fastening solutions are the answer for the quick assembly of parts, where traditional screws or clips cannot be used. 3M Dual Lock™ reclosable fasteners combine high holding force with a self-adhesive backing. This allows for easy pre-assembly at tier1 level and quick attachment during in-line assembly.
