Customer Testimonial

Client: The Barden Corporation (UK) Ltd

Problem: Changes in environmental regulations meant a new solvent was required for a manufacturing process. 3M PDMS was approached, as The Barden Corporation did not have time or in-house facilities to undertake this work. Four solvents were proposed with around 30 components requiring compatibility testing. Components consisted of metals, phenolics and rubbers. Testing determined if there were any changes in the characteristics of the materials e.g. Tarnishing following cleaning process.

Solution: The components were tested with each of the new solvents and then measured and analysed to detect any changes in visual appearance and size after the cleaning process.

Results: 3M PDMS provided a complete service, including:

  • Sample analysis prior to cleaning
  • Cleaning process
  • Re-analysing components after cleaning

Success meant Barden Corporation accelerated their manufacturing changes by 6 months.
