An new catalogue launched by the Medical OEM business helps customers wanting to find the right solution for their needs in the shortest possible time.
An online product catalogue launched by the Medical OEM business heralds a new dawn for customers wanting to find the right solution for their needs in the shortest possible time.
The Medical OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) business markets hundreds of different products and technologies including medical grade tapes, adhesives and coatings used in the medical device manufacturing industry. Its customers are manufacturers using 3M products as components in their own range of products or suppliers who sell the products under their own brand label.
Their products all come in a wide spectrum of options, including: material, adhesive, thickness, conformability, breathability, elasticity and colour. The new catalogue uses a software system that allows customers to narrow down their search from the vast array of options to the products with exactly the right attributes they are looking to find; they can also then compare up to four products to find the most appropriate solution.
Such software systems and techniques are already in use on a small number of 3M product websites, but this is the first of its kind for Health Care Markets in the UK and Ireland. It’s planned to be later rolled out to Medical OEM businesses in other parts of the world.
Senior marketing executive Ian Kent said the aim had been to make the new online catalogue as user-friendly as possible for customers with all the information in an easily navigable format.
“It’s involved a huge amount of work by teams at Loughborough and Bracknell to build the catalogue and ensure the software can deliver it online in the right format – but it’s been worth it,” he commented.
“The online catalogue is part of a redesigned website that caters specifically for the needs of medical device manufacturers and designers. It makes it easy for product development, Research & Development and marketing personnel to quickly and efficiently find exactly what they need.
“We’ve also made product support more accessible as well - with technical information and product specifications now available to download online.”
