A Multi-Protection Welding Solution
The Speedglas 9100 MP (Multi-Protection) Welding & Safety Helmet from 3M has been designed to be well-balanced, with a low
centre of gravity, even when the helmet and visor are in the raised position. It has a large, curved, protective visor for enhanced visibility
and the top shell is made from heat-resistant polycarbonate. Hearing protection can also be quickly added, with the Peltor
Helmet-Mounted Earmuff Assembly Kit from 3M.
Alan McArthur, technical specialist in 3M’s Safety Solutions Division, explains: "Welders, particularly those in heavy industries
such as shipbuilding, often require both head and respiratory protection.
"Combined PPE options for welders are limited, so there is a demand for equipment that is comfortable and straightforward to use,
as well as offering the level of protection needed.
"The Speedglas 9100 MP Welding & Safety Helmet has been specially designed to provide a premium welder protection system for
highly demanding environments, bringing together all the different elements that are required to protect against workplace hazards
and offering the wearer peace of mind."
The Speedglas 9100 MP Welding & Safety Helmet will be launched at this year’s MACH exhibition in Birmingham from 16-20 April.
Visitors to the 3M stand (4580) will be able to get up close to the new helmet and try out the various auto darkening filters,
and accessory options.
The Speedglas 9100 MP Welding & Safety Helmet is compatible with the Adflo Powered Air Respirator by 3M. When used together,
the helmet offers class TH3 respiratory protection with an assigned protection factor (APF) of 40; the highest respirator performance
class for this type of welding PPE. It can also be connected to Versaflo V-500E Supplied Air Regulator by 3M for an APF of 40.
