Artificial Optical Radiation - Technical Note

The Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations came out in April 2010 with an aim to protect workers eyes and skin from the risks from the hazards of Artificial Optical Radiation (AOR).

AOR includes light emitted from all artificial sources such as ultra violet, infra red and laser beams but excluding sunlight.

Many employees may already be managing the risks effectively but further work may have to be taken by those who have not reduced the exposure to AOR as low as is reasonably practicable. This TECHNICAL NOTE will help you to decide whether or not you need to do more to protect your employees in light of the new regulations.
