Crushable Foam

Crushable foam can help mitigate rapid increases in annular pressure – which can lead potentially to subsea well casing failure.

Made of 3M™ Glass Bubbles with crush strengths ranging from 250psi to 18,000psi, the foam acts as a mechanical fuse which collapses when the temperature or pressure rises above set criteria. Minimum collapse pressure is typically 1.5 times the maximum installation pressure. The crushable foam is stable in temperatures in excess of 110oC which means it works safely and effectively in today’s deeper offshore wells.
