The 3M™ Speedglas™ 9100 Hard Hat, a combination of safety helmet, welding shield and auto-darkening filter, is especially designed for welders working in areas with overhead hazards, such as cranes, protruding beams and moving machinery.
The key to the Speedglas™ 9100 Hard Hat is the pivot mechanism that connects the welding shield to the safety helmet. Traditional welding safety helmets create a heavy forward centre-of gravity when the shield is raised; as a result, the user feels off-balance, and the leveraged weight puts additional strain on neck muscles.

Respiratory Protection
In addition to engineering controls, such as local exhaust ventilation, welders often require Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) to further reduce exposure to airborne contaminants, but not even the best respiratory protective welding helmets will be used all day if they are not comfortable. 3M are one of the world's leaders in respiratory protection and can offer a wide range of options to ensure optimum comfort and protection for you and your workforce. Our welding sytems are available with a choice of either powered or supplied air respiratory protection for day long comfort and protection, or for shorter tasks our premium range of disposable and reusable respirators fit neatly underneath a welding helmet to provide an alternative option.
3M™ Adflo™ Powered Air Respirator
With its smart, compact design, the 3M™ Adflo™ Powered Air Respirator is specially designed to meet your welding needs. Its continuous airflow provides filtered air that takes much of the heat and sweat out of welding. By using the Adflo respirator, you get both increased protection and comfort all day long. The turbo unit draws air through a spark arrester, pre-filter and particle filter (and gas filter when used) to reduce respiratory hazards. It then feeds the air, via the breathing tube, into the welding shield. The constant flow of filtered air and the comfortable face seal keep contaminated air outside the shield.

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) require that reusable PPE is regularly tested, inspected and maintained to ensure optimum performance and protection for the wearer. Guidance on the appropriate checks is provided in the instruction booklet with each new item or system, but 3M also provide Care and Maintenance Packs to help make this information accessible on a day to day basis and provide a strong, visual reminder.
