Focus on fume
AWD to run series of Fume Focus Events later this year, helping businesses to safeguard the health of their welders.
Did you know that every year, up to 50 welders are hospitalised as a result of exposure to metal fume? Or that pneumonia kills two welders each year? As many as nine per year suffer from asthma so severe that they are able to claim benefits as a result*.
To tackle this important issue, the Association of Welding Distribution (AWD) will present a series of educational events across the UK during 2014, focussing on fume extraction and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when welding and cutting. The exact schedule of dates is yet to be announced, so watch this space for more details!
