ISO15384 Protective clothing used for wildland fire fighting

This standard typically relates to professional fire-fighting kit worn during wildland fire fighting to protect mainly against heat and flame, and is generally more applicable to warm countries. It is valid worldwide, but has not been fully adopted as a European standard as yet.  At present a new version of the standard, to accommodate European needs, is waiting for the final approval.  This new version would probably be valid only for Europe.

The performance requirements for clothing conforming to this standard include:

  • Flame spread
  • Radiant heat
  • Heat resistance
  • General performance requirements including tensile and tear strength, water repellence, dimensional stability, resistance to chemicals
  • Ergonomic and comfort requirements
