3M™ VHB™ 30TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Celebrating the 30th Birthday of VHB, one of the most innovative adhesive technologies ever manufactured.

3M VHB Acrylic Foam Tapes were launched in 1981 as an alternative to screws, rivets and welding, and are now a fastener of choice in industries ranging from construction and transport to telecommunications and signage.

3M fittingly celebrated the 30th birthday of VHB Tape by holding an event at 3M UK's headquarters to showcase the product's performance. To allow comparison we tested our VHB Tapes against typical fastenings and fixings. Check out the videos below to see why it has been around for 30 years!

For 30 years VHB Tape has made it possible for designers and engineers in companies all over the world to develop their next successful products. Their success has allowed us to celebrate the 30th Birthday of VHB Tape today. It has enabled them to bond surfaces together without using unsightly fixings or to choose materials they couldn't otherwise use if they were limited to traditional fastenings.

3M are confident that with the addition of the new VHB RP Tape to the family and the commitment of 3M to research and development, VHB Tapes will be around in another 30 years time.

If you are new to VHB Tapes here is a quick overview of their characteristics:

  • 3M VHB Tapes are double-sided products which create a perminant bond to numerous substrates including:
    Metal Acrylic Polystyrene
    Glass Polycarbonate PVC
  • Unlike mechanical fixings, the load is spread evenly through the entire length of the joint.
  • While the product's flexibility makes it equally suitable for dynamic loads as well as static loads.
  • It offers a waterproof seal, strong resistance to solvents and UV light and can cope with extremes in temperature at both ends of the portfolio.
The VHB range has been continually enhanced since its launch, reflecting 3M's constant commitment to innovation and to developing and growing its product portfolio to meet ever-changing customer requirements.
