METHUEN, Mass. – November 8, 2010 – 3M Touch Systems Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of 3M, today announced the availability of the 3M MicroTouch System SCT3855EX, a surface capacitive touchscreen system that incorporates Vikuiti Advanced Light Control Film (ALCF) into the touchscreen manufacturing process. This combination of two unique 3M technologies provides an easy-to-integrate solution that helps protect end users' sensitive on-screen information in a public setting.

The 3M MicroTouch System SCT3855EX with Vikuiti ALCF film is ideal for the financial industry and other self-service or point-of-information areas that regularly handle sensitive and secure user information. Vikuiti ALCF film is composed of invisible micro louvers that function like vertical blinds by blocking out display screen views from the side while allowing unrestricted viewing to users in front of the screen. Seen from outside the 60-degree viewing angle, the screen appears dark; seen from the front, the screen is bright and clear. During the SCT3855 touchscreen manufacturing process, the Vikuiti ALCF film is laminated to the all glass sensor before the flex circuit tail is applied. This means there is no air gap to refract or reflect light between the touchscreen and the light control film, enhancing the optical performance of the privacy touch solution.
