The investment will reduce the amount of time spent on administrative tasks resulting in our staff having more time to speak to and help our customers, which will be a key factor in moving to the very different library service of the future.” The 3M equipment comprises almost half a million radio frequency identification (RFID) tags which ensure easy identification, location and security of library items; multiple SelfCheck Systems, allowing library visitors to check out and return their items quickly and easily; Staff Workstations, bringing the benefit of RFID to the library staff service stations; and Digital Library Assistants, allowing staff to quickly and easily perform shelf-reading searches and inventory scans.
