3M sponsors new online teaching resource for students

15 October 2013

3M, the diversified technology company, has joined forces with Twin Cities Public Television in Minnesota, USA, to introduce a new educational resource called Sparticl (www.sparticl.org).

This free website uses topic pages to bring the best content from the web – all vetted by a team of experts for accuracy – together with games, video and homework help. New topics are added daily and it is easy for teachers to use it in the classroom.

Minnesota is the global home of 3M Company and the new website is the latest free online teaching resource from the company. Such websites have been a feature of 3M’s UK and Ireland subsidiary for many years.

Existing online resources created especially for teachers and students in the UK and Ireland include:

  • 3M Streetwise: www.3Mstreetwise.co.uk, which looks at the scientific principles behind road safety rules for 7-11 year-olds 1
  • 3M Worldlywise: www.3Mworldlywise.co.uk, which considers sustainable living for 11-16 year-olds 2
  • 3M Careerwise: www.3Mcareerwise.co.uk, which gives secondary school students a personal insight into the world of work.

John Klee of 3M said:  “As a science-based company, 3M has a long-standing commitment to educating the next generation of innovators.  By making science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) more accessible and fun for students the aim is to encourage them to develop an interest that may eventually lead to a scientific career.”

3M is a registered trademark of 3M Company.
