3M expands passive hearing conservation range with pocket-sized Noise Indicator
29 October 2010
3M, the diversified technology company, has added to its extensive passive hearing conservation range with the introduction of a lightweight, clip-on product that provides Health and Safety Managers with a quick and simple guide to potential noise hazard levels.
The new 3M Noise Indicator NI-100EU offers easy, durable noise level detection, helping identify areas where hearing protection may need to be worn. It uses an LED lighting system, which flashes green when exposed to ambient noise levels below 85db(A) and red for noise levels above 85dB(A), when hearing protective equipment must legally be worn.
Sue Poole, Product Manager for 3M’s Occupational Health and Environmental Safety Division, explains: “The 3M Noise Indicator alerts users to potentially dangerous noise levels, helping them identify areas where they may need to wear hearing protection. Users simply clip the Noise Indicator to a shirt or jacket and its LED light delivers a clear indication when noise levels exceed a potentially hazardous threshold.”
The Noise Indicator’s small size and lightweight design make it ideal for workers in a variety of industries. With a rechargeable battery that operates for up to 200 hours between charges and an automatic turn-off system, it is a simple and cost-effective method for assessing a potential noise hazard on the spot.
