3M extends online rapid repair offering16 March 2011 The 3M website at www.3Mbodyshop.co.uk now offers a range of practical and accessible tools to help SMART (Small to Medium Area Repair Technology), LAR (Local Area Repair) and alloy wheel repair suppliers deliver the best possible service to their customers. Free videos demonstrate best practice and advice on optimum SMART repair process steps including damage assessment, surface cleaning, surface preparation, masking, primer application, primer sanding, paint application and paint rectification. Visitors can also access an online training module detailing the applications of SMART repair, key processes and relevant products available from 3M. Meanwhile, step-by-step guides illustrate alternative processes for effective LAR and alloy wheel repair. The new online tools follow on from the launch late last year of the 3M Rapid Repair Solutions booklet, which contains simple illustrated step-by-step guides on both SMART and LAR processes, as well as sections on alloy wheel repair and the 3M products suitable for each process. The booklet is available as a free download from the website. Dave Nimmey of 3M’s Automotive Aftermarket Division explained: “Using cosmetic repair techniques enables vehicles to be repaired and returned to customers more quickly than being processed alongside conventional jobs, and our offering is fully aligned with our customers’ business strategies which are increasingly based around faster throughput. “We go beyond product supply to provide detailed technical support and advice to users to help them get the best out of our rapid repair products, enabling them to optimise service, maximising throughput and therefore profitability.” Sales Enquiries Tel: 0161 236 8500 email: aadenquiries.uk@mmm.com
