3M introduces new film options for commercial vehicles and trendy car wrap applications
15 November 2010
Diversified technology company 3M has announced a new adhesive version of its industry renowned, ultra-conformable, removable film for fleet and vehicle graphics. Controltac Graphic Film IJ180-10 from 3M has long been used to produce short- to long-term graphics on trucks, vans, trams, buses and other commercial vehicles. With the addition of 3M Comply Version 3 Adhesive, the new Controltac Graphic Film IJ180Cv3-10 now enables fast, bubble-free application. Alongside this, 3M has also announced the arrival of a new economical film, also featuring Comply v3, for less extreme applications.
3M Controltac Graphic Film IJ180-10 is a preferred product of specialist converters who hold the film in high regard for its outstanding performance and long lifetime durability. The premium, 50 micron, white cast film delivers an excellent gloss finish with no edge lifting in vehicle recesses, and no shrinking or cracking as a result of the high stress levels imposed during application.
The permanent, grey pigmented, pressure-activated adhesive, available only on 3M Controltac films, facilitates precise graphic positioning until force is applied and its excellent concealing power enables visually stunning graphics to be achieved with no ‘show through’. The film also has no curing time, which minimises vehicle off road holding periods, and it can be removed quickly from automotive clear coats with heat, leaving no residue.
With the introduction of a new adhesive version, the film just got even better. Using 3M Controltac Graphic Film with Comply IJ180Cv3-10, installers no longer face the issue of frustrating bubbles occurring during the application process. The non-visible, 3M Comply v3 technology allows air to easily escape through micro-replicated channels under the surface of film as it is applied so installers can apply the film quicker with no sign of bubbles.
In addition to its premium vehicle wrapping film, 3M now offers a value-priced version to address market demand for cost flexibility in short- to long-term graphic films. Also featuring 3M Comply v3, 3M Scotchcal Graphic Film with Comply IJ170Cv3-10 has been produced specifically for use in areas where cost has more of a deciding factor. Ideal for flat surfaces, the film is also suitable for moderate compound curves, corrugated and riveted vehicle surfaces without edge lifting, shrinking or cracking.
Controltac Graphic Film with Comply IJ180Cv3-10 and Scotchcal Graphic Film with Comply IJ170Cv3-10 are available from 3M primary stockists William Smith and Spandex.
