New 3M system set to revolutionise primer application
17 November 2010
Diversified technology company 3M has launched a new primer spraying system which is set to offer bodyshops major advantages in performance and efficiency over alternative systems.
Building on the success of the acclaimed 3M Paint Preparation System, the 3M Accuspray System has been developed to offer accurate, controlled spraying through an innovative, replaceable atomising head which delivers the performance of a brand new spray gun every time it is used.
At a fraction of the cost of premium guns, the 3M Accuspray system delivers lower primer consumption and spraying time, less overspray – reducing cleaning times and masking requirements - enhanced transfer efficiency and a flatter, smoother finish, reducing sanding and blocking time.
The even fluid distribution creates a large usable spray pattern while also enabling exceptional control – a particular bonus on small jobs. The system is faster to clean than traditional guns, requiring less solvents, while the atomising head allows the user to see when it is clean.
Lightweight, comfortable and easy to use, the range has been extensively tested in bodyshops across the UK, with users confirming numerous and substantial savings in costs and time.
The line-up consists of the 3M Accuspray Spray Gun – an HVLP (high volume low pressure) gravity feed primer gun - Atomising Head Dispenser, Atomising Heads, Fluid Needle and Air Regulator Gauge.
Jamie Bartholomeou of 3M’s Automotive Aftermarket Division explained: “The 3M Accuspray System makes the primer application process quicker, easier and more efficient than ever before while improving the finish too.
“Day in day out it will deliver the performance of a new gun, reducing time spent on the job while significantly cutting down on the use of masking, sanding, blocking and cleaning products.
“We see the 3M Accuspray System as our most significant development for the bodyshop sector since the 3M Paint Preparation System and given the responses we have received during testing, believe it will rapidly become the industry standard system for primer spraying.”
