3M recognised in “Best Global Green Brands” rankings from Interbrand

3M, the diversified technology company, has been named one of the world’s “Best Global Green Brands” by leading brand consultant Interbrand. On the 2011 list, 3M ranks second globally and first among US based organisations.
Interbrand’s scores are calculated based on comprehensive analyses of both environmental performance and consumer perception across multiple markets. 3M was commended for its decades-long commitment to environmental practices and for offering customers a variety of sustainable products. Additionally, the study praised the company’s corporate social responsibility and sustainable operations, including an award-winning energy conservation programme.
“3M first formalised its Pollution Prevention Pays (3P) programme in 1975 and has made significant strides since then towards achieving its sustainability goals. In 2009, the company formed its Renewable Energy Division to develop and provide energy generation and energy conservation solutions to meet growing demand in the energy market,” said Mike Roman, vice president and general manager of 3M’s Renewable Energy division. “We’re especially proud of our position on Interbrand’s 2011 list, as the company strives to lead the way with sound, sustainable practices for future generations.”
