3M protects WorldSkills London 2011 competitors

30 September2011

Diversified technology company 3M is supporting the world’s greatest international skills competition, WorldSkills London 2011, by providing participants with a range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The event, which takes place between 5-8 October at ExCeL London, sees 1,000 Competitors from more than 50 countries/regions competing in a range of skill areas from engineering, manufacturing and construction to information technology and the arts. 3M is supporting the welding category at the event and has provided welding shields, helmets, hearing protection, protective eyewear and Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for participants.

Caroline Smith, marketing manager of the 3M Safety Solutions Division, explained:  “WorldSkills is the biggest event of its kind and attracts tens of thousands of visitors bi-annually.  The young competitors – the majority are under 22 – have been put through rigorous regional heats before they arrive, so everyone participating is the best of the best in their skill category.

“3M is committed to supporting educational projects like WorldSkills London 2011 by sharing our products and expertise.  By providing a range of PPE like welding shields and respirators we can make sure participants are getting the best protection possible so they only need to focus on the task at hand.”
