3M Launches Flexible Retro-Reflective Safety Markings
21 March 2012
Following extensive field trials 3M, the diversified technology company, has launched its latest edition of 3M Diamond Grade Vehicle Marking Film as a solution to the rising demand for a more flexible and continuous product for the use on curtain sided vehicles.
Goods vehicle operators are well aware of the ECE104 regulation that was introduced in July this year, stipulating that the use of retroreflective safety markings should clearly outline the rear and sides of heavy goods vehicles operating on our roads, making them visible at night for up to 1000 metres.
3M has been providing retroreflective materials to help operators comply with this new legislation for many years and the new Diamond Grade Vehicle Marking Film, 997 (continuous) and 997S (segmented) tape is based on flexible prismatic technology, with the ability to flex and follow the movement of the canvas easily on curtain sided vehicles.
The polymer system used within the Vehicle Marking Film 997 series is softer than its 987 predecessor and is more resilient to any damage caused by impact. Both products are free from metal coatings, eradicating the problem of corrosion as well as being extremely durable.
The Diamond Grade Vehicle Marking Film 997 range provides superb long distance night time reflectivity with strong, vibrant colours. Both tapes are available in white, yellow and red, conforming to ECE104 and are available in continuous or segmented versions.
3M is a world leader in developing innovative solutions for the traffic safety market. Its wide product range includes reflective sheeting for traffic signs, vehicle conspicuity markings, licence plate reflective sheeting, road marking tapes and surface applied road studs.
