Serial Data I/O Connectors

3M offers 2 families of Serial Data I/O connectors for HDD system integration. 3M combines standard, off-the-shelf SATA and SAS device plugs with a broad range of custom capabilities. Our products ensure reliability by meeting or exceeding industry standards. Both styles of Serial Data I/O are capable of supporting either 2.5" or 3.5" HDD.

3M™ Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA)

The 3M SATA Device Plugs, 22-position, are used on the device side (optical, solid state or hard disk drive) and have a variety of features that make them appealing for high volume environments. The co-planar version uses gull-wing surfacemount tails that are housed in RoHS compliant*, molded, high temperature plastic bodies. This version has PCB guides that help ensure proper alignment between the PCB and the contact tails. As specified with all in-the-box SATA connectors, the combo plug includes the L-shaped polarized contact bar and guide rails to ensure consistent and accurate blind mating. 3M also offers a right angle, through hole version of the 22-position device plug.

3M™ Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)

3M SAS Device Plugs, 29 Position, are available in co-plannar and vertical surfacemount configurations. The co-planar version uses gull-wing surfacemount tails that are housed in RoHS compliant*, molded, high temperature plastic bodies. This version has PCB guides that help ensure proper alignment between the PCB and the contact tails. The SAS Device Plugs are designed to the SFF8482 standard ensuring common interface with SAS receptacles that also meet this standard.
